A report produced through collaborative research work undertaken at Aston University, Newcastle University and Birmingham City University. It seeks to look at the ways in which the live music ecology of Birmingham is constituted and how the sector is approaching challenges related to local, national and international change. Specifically it explores the challenges a local level that could be brought about by the UK’s planned departure from the European Union. This report is based on a workshop held at Aston University on 7th May 2019, which gathered together a number of stakeholders from the Birmingham live music sector to discuss and document perceived challenges, threats and opportunities related to the UK government’s approach to Brexit negotiations.
